TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Barbara Ellen Zajac, 68, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was born November 26, 1950 to Walter J. Zajac and Jean E. (McNeill) Zajac.

Survivors include her brothers, Peter L. Zajac and his wife, Mal, of Gainesville, Ga. (and formerly of Tewksbury, Mass.), Stephen J. Zajac of Reading, Mass. and Jeffrey W. Zajac and his wife, Jackie, of Melrose, Mass.; nieces, Kara, Kristy, Jocelyn and Jamie; and grand-nephews and nieces Austen, Logan, Senia Mae, Mason and Morgan. Most dearly missed is her beloved cat, Teddy. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Peter Mosher.

A long-time resident of Terre Haute, she was raised in Melrose graduating from Melrose High School, class of 1968. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts School of Nursing she worked for Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Dartmouth, N.H. before moving to Chicago and later to Santa Monica, Calif. While in Santa Monica Barbara attended Mt. St. Mary’s College earning a BA in Sociology and then relocated to Riverside, Calif. to earn her PhD from UC-Riverside. Upon graduation Barbara enjoyed teaching at Indiana State University in Terre Haute for many years.

Along with her life-long passion for education her many interests included ballroom dancing and music, recently expanding her skills playing the organ at Trinity Lutheran Church.

A memorial visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m.-12 noon, Friday, May 31 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon, in the church, with Father Dan Bedel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
