MELROSE — Charles Frederick Webb, 90, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on October 28, 2019.

Born and raised in Melrose in 1929, he was the son of the late Mary (Coatman) Webb and Raymond E. Webb and married Cynthia Jones Webb in 1951. He graduated and was president of his 1947 Melrose High School class. Fred also was captain of the MHS Football and Hockey teams and proud to be the running back on the 1947 undefeated football team inducted in the MHS Hall of Fame. Charles attended Tufts Collage and graduated from Northeastern University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict teaching High Altitude Bombing and Navigation in Biloxi, Mississippi. He worked for Hewlett Packet and owned Webb Associates (Electronic Instrumentation).

Fred enjoyed summering in Wolfeboro and was a member of the Masons and The American Legion. Retired to Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro, N.H. where he was a part time wheelchair driver and became an EMT at the age of 75. Fred spent his remaining days enjoying Duxbury, Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. and living at the Cefalo Memorial complex in Melrose with his beloved Cynthia.

Father of Clifford Allen Webb and wife Cheryl of Duxbury and Florida, Barry Dexter Webb and wife Deborah of Newburyport, Ronald Eagan Webb of Melrose and Sandra Lee Webb of Sandwich. Grandfather of Timothy Webb and wife Drew of Wis., Mackenzie Webb of Wis., Matthew Powers and wife Lilly of Vt., Tyson Webb and wife Amanda of Mont. Great-grandfather of Dylan, Ford and Hunter.
