SAUGUS — Cynthia Helen (Cavanagh) Boyle, 66, of Saugus, formerly of Melrose and Somerville, died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 7, 2017 after a long illness.

She is survived by her beloved husband Patrick Boyle after 46 years of marriage and her beloved and devoted children Julie, Brian and his wife Melissa, Stephen and his wife Chrystal, Patrick and his wife April and her five grandchildren Walter, Lillian, Hannah, Riley and Finnian. She also leaves her sisters Georgette and her husband John Curran, Kathleen and her husband Kevin Donovan, and her brother Thomas Cavanagh. She was predeceased by her brother Walter and parents Walter and Georgette Cavanagh.

Cynthia worked in Catholic school education for 46 years at St. Francis Xavier school in Weymouth, St. Francis of Assisi in Medford, St. Anthony School in Everett where she was the principal for 12 years and finally at St. Mary of the Annunciation school in Melrose where she was the principal from 2007-2016. Cynthia was a graduate of St. Anna’s in Somerville, St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge, Boston State College, Salem State College and the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College. She was also adjunct mathematics faculty at the Woman’s Institute of Technology in Boston and Middlesex Community College.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 13, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
