MELROSE — Delia M. (Morris) O’Malley, of Melrose, died peacefully on September 18, 2017 at the age of 85. Delia was born on February 4, 1932 in Eden Knock, Co. Mayo, Ireland to Frank & Nora (Costello) Morris. She was raised in Ireland and came to the United States in 1950.

Delia spent some years in Rhode Island & Medford, before settling in Melrose in 1956 to raise her family with her husband David. Delia was a founding member of Incarnation Church where she also taught CCD. She was also a member of the Catholic Club and worked with the Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts. Delia loved taking trips to Cape Cod with her family; she loved them all. She will be greatly missed.

She was the wife of the late David A. O’Malley; loving mother of David J. O’Malley and his wife Charlene of Maryland, John F. O’Malley and his wife Megen of Melrose, Noreen A. Gorham and her husband Paul of Connecticut, and Kevin B. O’Malley and his wife Wendy of New York.  Delia was the proud grandmother of David, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Emma, Caitlin, and Shannon. She was the sister of Mary Behen of Nahant, Theresa McAvoy of Medford, John Morris of Ireland, the late Eileen Strudas, and the late James Morris.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Funeral Procession from Gately funeral home on Monday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose.  Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Delia’s name to the Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose, MA 02176.
