STONEHAM — Earle M. Burse, of Stoneham, fondly referred to as “Papa” will be remembered as a humble and devoted family man. He passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was 84.

Earle was born on June 11, 1933 in East Boston, son of the late Henry and Isabel (Douglas) Bolanowski. As the son of a U.S. Army Sergeant, Earle was raised to always value your country, and respect those around you. He grew up in several locations throughout the United States and abroad while living on Army bases with his family. He graduated from high school in Arkansas.

Upon returning to the United States, Earle and Margaret Lumino were introduced to each other, and later were married on May 1, 1960 at Sacred Heart Church in Malden. They began a family while living in Malden, and later settled in Stoneham to raise two children.

Earle loved his job as a regional truck driver for the Teamsters, Local 25 serving New England. Upon retirement from trucking, Earle became manager of the mail room at the Hartford Insurance Company.

A quiet, easy going man, Earle could be found spending time with Marge whom he was totally devoted to, and his children and grandchildren whom he adored. When at home, Earle enjoyed tinkering in his garage, or maintaining his home, automobiles, and yard equipment. As a history buff, Earle loved reading about two topics that interested him greatly, The Civil War, and World War II. Earle also enjoyed the ocean, especially the coast of Maine, but most of all was happiest spending time at home with his beloved wife Marge.

Earle will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated family man and true gentleman. He will be missed.

Earle was the beloved husband of Margaret P. “Marge” (Lumino) Burse with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Devoted father of Cheryl Carangelo and her husband Phil of Reading, and Stephen Burse and his wife Ashley of Swampscott. Cherished “Papa” of Phillip Jr., Alyssa, Stephen Jr., and Lauren. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will honor and remember Earle’s life by gathering during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 4 – 8 p.m., and again on Friday, Sept. 22, at 8:45 a.m. before leaving in procession for St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham for his Funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.  Gifts in memory of Earle may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
