MELROSE — Elsie Constance Sousa, 80, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on February 21, 2019.

Elsie was born in Somerville on April 12, 1938 to the late Anthony and Elsie (Lopes) Sousa; she was raised in Melrose and attended Melrose Schools. Miss Sousa has been a lifelong resident of Melrose and had worked at Triangle in Malden for over 20 years. She loved her family, loved to eat, enjoyed listening to Perry Como, watching the Golden Girls on TV and showing off her jewelry.

Elsie was the loving sister of Anthony Sousa and his wife Maureen, Joseph Sousa and his wife Maria and the late Mary Lavasseur and the late Arthur Sousa Sr. and his wife Angelina of Melrose. Proud aunt of Arthur Jr., Rose, Anthony, Anthony Jr., Deanna, Michael, Joseph Jr., Kristen, Kelly, Katelyn, Colleen, Stacey and Michelle. Also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, family members and friends.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, February 28, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend.
