WAKEFIELD — Francis S. “Frank” Gallahue, 82, of Wakefield died Sunday November 3, 2019 at the Oosterman’s Rest Home in Melrose.

He was born in Quincy on November 18, 1936 and was the son of the late James and Marion (Foy) Gallahue.

Frank was raised in Braintree and was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School, Class of 1954. Along with his brother Bob, they started Gallahue’s Market in Wakefield in the 1950’s. Over time, they eventually grew the business to a total of four supermarkets, with additional locations in Stoneham, Melrose, and Reading. When not working at the family business, Frank enjoyed his summers on the Cape.

Frank was the beloved husband of Mary (Faria) Gallahue. He was the loving father of Francis Gallahue Jr. of Billerica, David Gallahue of Stoneham and Dianne Sica of Canton. He was the brother of Margaret Reed of Cohasset and the late James and Robert Gallahue, and Marie Brickley. Frank was the grandfather of Kelly, Brendan, David Jr., Lauren, Patrick, Vinny and Braydon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Thursday followed by a funeral mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery Wakefield.
