PEABODY — George S. Koomas, 87, passed away at Care One at Peabody Nursing Home on November 18, 2017. Gorge was born in Everett on December 4, 1929 to the late John C. and Mary (Roche) Koomas. He was raised in Everett and Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and attended college at Boston University.

He lived most of his life in Melrose and the past 10 years in Lynn. He served his country with pride in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. George worked in sales at Sears and Roebucks for many years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed astronomy, cooking, and jazz music and had an extensive vinyl record collection.

Mr. Koomas was the brother of Elizabeth Coughlin, Beverly Guarino and the late June Lyle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Arrangements by Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
