MELROSE — Gertrude K. (Kenefick) Edgeworth, 95, passed away at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading on April 7, 2018.

Gertrude was born in Everett on July 29, 1922 to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Sheehan) Kenefick. One of twelve children she was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School. Gertrude married Wiilam L. Edgeworth in 1972, moved to Melrose and has been a resident ever since. She had a very long career of over 40 years working for Boston Edison as a clerk in the plant accounting division. She was an avid bird watcher, an excellent athlete who enjoyed playing tennis, loved playing golf and enjoyed a good game of bridge with her friends. Above all she loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Edgeworth was the beloved wife of the late William L. Edgeworth. Beloved sister of Margaret T. Kenefick of Burlington and the late Mary, Thomas, Grace, Josephine, Eleanor, Betty, John, Frank, Kathleen and Robert Kenefick. Beloved aunt of Monica Maietta of Tewksbury. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, April 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose.
