MELROSE — Jean M. (Cosco) Claire, 83, of Melrose, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on June 12, 2019.

Jean was born and raised in Chelsea and a graduate of St. Rose High School, Class of 1953. She resided in Medford for 20 years and Melrose since 1999. Jean worked as a cashier for Shaw’s supermarket in Melrose for eight years and was a former bank manager for Eastern Bank in Wakefield for 10 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Melrose and a former member of St. Francis Church in Melrose for many years. Jean was a devout catholic and a very generous person, contributing to many missionary charities. She enjoyed spending her time with her beloved cat “Annie”, playing cards and her family was the most important part of her life.

Jean was the loving mother of Laureen A. Sylvestro of Plymouth, Luanne M. Barry of Stoneham and the late Linda Carpenter and Leslye Whitaker. Cherished grandmother of Gary, Christopher, Jamis, Michelle, Joseph, Matthew, Derek and Robert. Great-grandmother of Luca. Caring sister of Marion Wilkerson of Md. and the late Josephine Cornish and Louis Cosco. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose on Saturday, June 15. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
