DANVERS — Joan C. Milo, 82, passed away at Blueberry Hill Healthcare in Beverly on October 1, 2018.

Joan was born in Melrose on September 2, 1936 to the late Daniel and Jeannette (Paprazynski) Lawton. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar and High School and received her associates degree from Bunker Hill Community College many years later. She worked for the New England Telephone Company as an operator and then as a supervisor prior to raising her family.

Joan lived n Malden from 1954 to 2011 and the last seven years in Danvers. Mrs. Milo was active in the Mother’s Club, as a CCD teacher and as a den mother at St. Joseph’s Church in Malden and volunteered assisting with under-privileged children in Malden. She volunteered at the Massachusetts Audubon Association in Ipswich where she enjoyed feeding the birds and bird watching; she was an animal lover, loved flowers and working in her garden. Mrs. Milo enjoyed traveling to Italy, taking cruises with her late husband Leonard and trips to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed playing tennis with the tennis group.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Leonard P. Milo, Jr. Loving mother of Leonard P. Milo, III and his wife Kristina of Methuen and Stephen Milo of Miami, Fla. Cherished grandmother of Kassandra and Victoria Milo.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, Oct. 5 from 4 – 7  p.m. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 790 Salem St., Malden at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
