MELROSE — John Paul Iovaine, 72, passed away at his home in Melrose on January 11, 2018.

John was born in Boston on June 18, 1945 to the late Anthony and Mary (Delmonico) Iovaine. He was raised in the North End of Boston and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 35 years.

John served his country with pride in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Iovaine worked as a prototype engineer manufacturing medical devices. He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Malden Gun Club.

John is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara A. (Reynolds) Iovine. Loving father of Cheri E. Cullen and her husband Dan of Melrose and Alan T. Iovine and his wife Micki Gilbert of Fla. Proud grandfather of Drew, Liam, Aidan, Mason and Rebecca. Caring brother of Richard Iovaine of Washington, D.C. and the late Anthony Angelo Iovaine.

Funeral services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
