MELROSE — Joseph A. Venuti Jr., 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 surrounded by his four children.

Joseph was born on Tuesday, February 14, 1939, to the late Joseph and Jennie (Polito) Venuti. He was raised in East Boston where he attended Sacred Heart Grammar school then Boston Trade High School for boys.

Married in 1962, he and his wife Joan initially settled in East Boston, starting their family before purchasing a home and moving to Melrose in 1969. He enjoyed cars, boats, and tinkering with anything mechanical or electronic. As a young man, he enjoyed drag racing, winning the New England Hot Rod Council championship in 1960.

He had a passion for saltwater aquariums, which was both a hobby and a business – owning a tropical fish import business “Seven Sea’s” in Saugus in the early ‘70s. He finally retired from Hewlett Packard at age 63, where he had a successful career as an electrical engineer.

Joseph was the beloved husband of 58 years of the deceased Joan Bernadette (Walsh) Venuti. Loving father of Joseph A. Venuti III of North Andover and his wife, the late Beverley Venuti; Peter J.
