READING — Joseph Paul Staffier, 24, died at his home in Reading on April 12, 2019.
Joe was a beloved son, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family. He enjoyed his time up at his family’s home in Sugar Hill, New Hampshire whether it was snowboarding at Cannon and Loon Mountain in the winter; along with snowshoeing and snowmobiling all around the property. In the summer he loved fishing out on the boat at Moore Res or on Streeter Pond with his dad and brother.
He also spent many summers down the Cape in Falmouth with his uncles and aunts and the rest of the family boating and swimming over at Washburn Island. Then hopping on the ferry over to Martha’s Vineyard to see the rest of the cousins and family having beach parties. He was a huge Boston sports fan, he was lucky enough to attend many Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots games, and recently going to the Patriots Championship Parade with his sister.
He was an all-star baseball player; loved playing every sport his whole life and man was he good at it all. He won a Super Bowl starting both ways for Reading Memorial High School. He loved getting out and playing golf in the summer and was recently trying to get a team together for a softball league.
In his down time he would garden or be on a nature walk with his treasured dog Roxy who he spent every day with. He was a movie buff and watched at least a movie a day. Joe loved watching history documentaries especially about the Vietnam War, World War II and the Civil War. He enjoyed traveling and he was lucky to have visited many of the states and Caribbean Islands.
He was a very talented musician, playing the guitar, bass, drums, harmonica and rap. He was a kind and gentle soul who always wanted to help everyone and would be there for anyone in a heartbeat. He lit up every single room he walked into and could make anyone smile whether he knew them for a lifetime or just a few minutes. He had a laugh that no one could ever forget.
Cherished son of Paul D. Staffier of Reading and Chris B. Hill of Lynnfield. Beloved brother of Emily C. Staffier and twin Daniel P. Staffier of Reading. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and his faithful companion Rocky.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Thursday, April 18 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Raphael Church, 512 High St. West Medford on Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford will be private.
