MELROSE — Justin K. Moore, 40, a resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

Justin was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 20, 1978. Raised in Edmond, Okla., Justin graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1998 and received his bachelor’s degree in MIS and Finance from the University of Oklahoma in 2002. He moved to the Boston area in 2005. A few years later, Justin met the love of his life, Sarah Hatfield. They were married at the Charlestown Navy Yard in 2011. Since 2013, Justin excelled in his role at DocuSign as a Sales and Solutions Engineer. Well-loved by all, Justin made a positive and lasting impact on anyone he came into contact with.

Justin was a childhood cancer survivor, diagnosed with Leukemia at age 16. As a result of this formative experience, Justin centered his adult life on living every day to the fullest. To say Justin packed more into 40 years than many do in 80 would be an understatement. Justin traveled the world with a zest for new experiences. He ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, bungee jumped off the highest bridge in Canada, attended Carnival in Brazil and Oktoberfest in Germany, and jumped from an airplane in Oklahoma. Always ready for a new challenge, he completed the 425 mile “Ride the Rockies” cycling event and ran marathons in Boston, Orlando, Turkey, Iceland and Chicago (which he completed just one month before his 2016 cancer diagnosis). Remarkable in every sense of the word, Justin lived one day at a time with carefree enthusiasm and unusual positivity.

Justin and his wife Sarah settled in Melrose in 2012 and established a foundation of love, adventure, and fun for their two sons, Miles, 6, and Declan, 3. Justin‘s innate ability to connect with people made him a naturally excellent father. Justin, a kid at heart, shared his love of laughter by leading the family in silly sing-alongs, games, and fun adventures. Justin was also a model for living life authentically. He was his own person, never took life too seriously, and everyone was better because of it.

A warrior to the end, Justin fought the good fight without complaint and no regrets. He relied on his deep and sincere faith in God to remain positive to the end. His passion, love for adventure, and quiet confidence will carry on as his legacy through the lives of his family. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Justin was the beloved husband of Sarah R. (Hatfield) Moore with whom he shared seven years of marriage. Proud and loving father of Miles and Declan Moore. Cherished son of Ken Moore, Jr. and Susan Moore of Edmond, Okla. Loving brother of Kristin Mannschreck and her husband Mike of Edmond, Okla. Dear grandson of C. Kenneth Moore, Sr. and the late Anita Moore, and Glen and Beverly Wilbanks, all of Edmond, Okla. Fun uncle of Mason, Averie, and Mayer, all of Edmond, Okla. Caring son-in-law of Julie and Jeff Koehler of Loganville, Ga., and Bruce and Tammy Hatfield of Waterloo, Iowa.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Justin’s life at the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church, 355 Franklin St., Melrose on Saturday, June 22 at 9:30 a.m. After the service, the Celebration will continue with a reception including some of Justin’s favorite foods: coffee, donuts and cookies.
