MELROSE — Lawrence A. Russo Jr., 73, passed away at his home in Melrose on April 16, 2018. Mr. Russo was predeceased by his wife Claire M. (Hannaford) Russo who passed away on March 25, 2018.

Lawrence was born in Somerville on June 13, 1944 to the late Lawrence A. and Mary (Scicca) Russo. He was raised in Melrose, attended Melrose schools and was a lifelong resident of Melrose. He entered the US Marines in 1962 and served his country with pride during the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1967. Lawrence was a member of the Brick Layers Union Local #3 and worked as a brick layer for over forty years. He was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time at his hunting cabin in Millsfield, New Hampshire. He was a talented woodworker, could build or fix anything, he loved life and was always on the go.

Lawrence was the loving father of Lawrence A. Russo III and his wife Heidi Ann of Stoneham and Lisa Capuano and her husband Andrew of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Jenna, Andrew, Jacqui, Ava and Anthony. Caring brother of the late Francis Russo. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held for Lawrence and his wife Claire at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St. Melrose on Thursday, April 26, at 11:30 a.m., including the presentation of military honors. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Arrangements by Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
