MELROSE — Lillian E. (Carney) Parrish, 102, passed away at the Oosterman’s Rest Home in Melrose on July, 5, 2019.

Lillian was born and raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1935. She was a lifelong Melrose resident and member of St. Mary’s Church. Lillian was a former Chairman of the motor services at the Red Cross and also volunteered at the Red Cross for many years. She worked at Kennedy’s Butter and Egg store in Melrose during WWII, ran the Melrose Wakefield Hospital coffee shop, volunteered at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital for many years and ran minstrel shows at the Melrose Knights of Columbus.

Lillian was the beloved wife of the late Charles L. Parrish for 71 years. Caring sister of the late William Carney, John Carney, Phillip Carney and Margaret “Peg” Carney. Sister-in-law of Dolores Carney. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, July 11, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
