MELROSE — Luciano “Lou” Fresco, 83, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on July 8, 2018.

Lou was born in Boston on November 2, 1934 to the late Charles and Maria C. (Turco) Fresco. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and received his masters in Education. Mr. Fresco lived in Wakefield, Melrose and Reading throughout his life. He started out working as a plumber and then taught plumbing at Lynn Technical School for 10 years and then at the Northeast Regional Technical School in Wakefield for 15 years. He enjoyed building furniture for family and friends, camping in his early years with his children and loved a good cigar. But above all he treasured the times he spent with his grandchildren.

Lou was the devoted father of Anthony Fresco and his wife Lauren of Reading, Marylou Mumpower of Bristol, Va., Kris Shedd of Reading and Charles Fresco and his wife Stacey of Framingham. Cherished grandfather of Michael and his wife Jennifer, Stephen and Matthew Fresco, Angela Fresco and Leah Mumpower, Dylan Shedd, Sam and Sophie Fresco. Proud great-grandfather of Derrick, Colton and Kailey.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, July 11. Funeral procession was from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday morning July 12, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield.
