WEST NEWBURY — Lynne Ann (Tipson) Johnson, 62, of West Newbury, passed away on September 17, 2018 in Siena, Italy, after a motor vehicle accident. She was the beloved wife of Gary Tipson and mother of Emma, Heather, and Audrey Tipson.

Lynne was born November 23, 1955 to Annie and Jerry Johnson of Melrose. She was the second of eight children, and graduated from Girls Catholic High School in Malden in 1973. She went on to attend Northeastern University and earned her degree in Radiology before starting work at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she had a successful 42-year career. She married Gary in July of 1991, and they raised their three daughters together.

When Lynne was young she taught herself to sew, bake, and to play the violin, and these hobbies stayed with her for her whole life. She was a member of the Melrose Symphony Orchestra for several years. She was also an avid gardener, and a member of the West Newbury Garden Club.

Lynne will be dearly missed by countless friends, family members, and colleagues; as well as her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held on November 4 at 2 p.m. at the Danversport Yacht Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lynne’s memory to The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Breast Cancer Research Fund, 116 Huntington Ave., 3rd floor, Boston MA 02116.
