MALDEN — Maureen E. (James) Vellucci of Malden passed away on August 10, 2019. She was the beloved wife of 49 years to Cosmo D Vellucci.

Maureen was born and raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School. She worked as a paralegal and in retail for a while but spent most of her life as a stay at home mom to raise her children and her grandchildren.

She completed courses at Bunker Hill Community College in order to volunteer as a social worker to help the families in her community through various agencies. She was an avid reader and writer, and she had a few articles and short stories published. She loved to travel with her husband Cosmo and their good friends whenever she was able; and they spent winters at their home in Clearwater, Florida for over 25 years. She adored her extended family and loved spending time with her three grandchildren, several godchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Maureen was the loving mother of Jeffrey J. Vellucci of Saugus and Daniel E. Vellucci of Malden. Cherished grandmother of Christina Vellucci of New Zealand, Nicholas Russell of Peabody and Gina Vellucci of Saugus. Caring sister of Danice R. James of Laconia, N.H. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, August 14. A funeral service was held at Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial was private.
