SAUGUS — Patricia A. “Pat” (Leeman) Thomas, 76, a resident of Saugus, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Pat was born on December 5, 1941 in Melrose, one of two children of the late Wilbur C. and Lillian (Pace) Leeman. Pat grew up in Melrose, and graduated from Melrose High School in 1959. Pat and Frank D. Thomas went all through school together, and would go on to get married on December 17, 1959.

For many years, Pat worked at Sears in the Sales Department. Her passion though was her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and her dear Frank. She was very active in her children and grandchildren’s lives, always keeping up with what they were up to and attending any school event she could. She always looked forward to family gatherings, and enjoyed baking and cooking for everyone.

First United Methodist Church in Melrose was also a big part of Pat’s life. She and Frank volunteered on numerous committees, and helped out at many church functions. Pat had great faith which helped see her through.

Pat enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. She particularly enjoyed Florida and Bermuda. Pat loved flying around New England with Frank, and spent many hours in the air enjoying the views of the world from a unique perspective.

A strong, sweet, and nurturing soul has slipped the surly bonds of Earth. Her legacy will live on through Frank, her children, grandchildren, and all those she has touched through the years. She will be missed terribly.

Pat is the beloved wife of Frank D. Thomas with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Sharon L. DiDonato and her husband Stephen of Saugus, and Scott F. Thomas and his wife Sharon of Wilmington. Dear sister Janice M. DeHart and her husband Don of Reading. Proud grandmother of Jonathan Pozzi, Zachary Thomas, Heather Pozzi, and Megan Thomas. Cherished aunt of Julie Burns and Stephanie Olivera and her husband Mike.

Relatives and friends gathered in honor and remembrance of Pat’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Monday, July 2, and for her funeral service at First United Methodist Church, 645 Main St., Melrose, celebrated on Tuesday. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
