Enjoyed cruises with his wife

MELROSE — Richard P. “Dickie” Cook, 74, passed away suddenly at his home in Melrose on February 5, 2018.

Mr. Cook was born in Malden on August 16, 1943 to the late Walter and Dorothy (McDermod) Cook. He was raised in Malden and Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School. Mr. Cook worked for over 30 years at Middlesex Warehouse and then as a manager the for maintenance facility for the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) for 11 years before he retired.

Richard and his wife Frances enjoyed going on cruises, trips to Saratoga Springs New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. He was a longtime member of the Melrose Elks and a member of the VFW Harold O’Young Post #2394.

Dickie was the beloved husband of 49 years to Frances J. (Clifford) Cook. Devoted father of Jennifer M. Cook of New York City and Christopher Cook and his wife Kristen of Melrose. Proud grandfather of Christopher J. and Elana G. Cook. Caring brother of Marjorie Cook and her lifelong friend Dee of Chatham, Robert Cook of Melrose and the late Gerard, James and Bryan Cook. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral procession from Gately Funeral Home on Saturday morning, February 10, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
