WESTPORT — Robert C. “Bob” Dolan, 69, of Westport and Cambridge, passed peacefully on June 9, surrounded by his family, friends and longtime companion.

Bob, a lover of blues piano, cats, and the beauty of nature, was originally from Darien, Conn. After graduating from Wentworth Institute of Technology, he moved to Antrim Street in Cambridge. Through friends, he discovered Westport, Massachusetts, and made that his second home.

He began his career as an architectural model builder, becoming a master model maker and partner with The Model Shop in Cambridge. He worked closely with prestigious Boston and Cambridge architectural firms, building the original models for much of the Boston skyline we know today. He went on to become a founding partner of Three D Solutions, continuing to provide architectural and creative services for almost two decades.

A profoundly kind and generous spirit, he has touched the lives of many. Bob leaves his God-children Max and Rose Meier, his longtime partner and companion, Dinah Olanoff, his siblings, Kathleen Dolan and William Dolan of California and David Dolan of South Carolina, as well as his beloved cats, Gigi and Smokey. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in Westport later this summer. A private remembrance will be held Sunday, June 17 in Melrose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westport River Watershed Alliance.
