MALDEN — Stephen P. McMahon, 71, of Malden, died peacefully on May 21, 2019. He was born on October 26, 1947 to Walter and Louise (Berry) McMahon, was raised in Everett, and graduated from St. Rose High School in Chelsea.  

Stephen enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school. He served honorably for four years during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, Stephen went on to work in banking for over 30 years as a Senior Computer Specialist for the First National Bank of Boston which later became the Bank of America. He was a lifelong New England Patriots fan and a season ticket holder for 40 years. He considered himself lucky to be able to witness all six of their championships. Stephen was also an avid golfer and had a great sense of humor.  

He was the son of the late Walter and Louise (Berry) McMahon. Brother of Rita L. Whelan, Cathy A. Pagliarulo and her husband Joe, Kevin McMahon and his wife Camille, and the late Claire McMahon, Ruth Henderson and John McMahon. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours were held on Tuesday, May 28 at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Funeral procession was from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose. Burial followed the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Stephen’s memory to the Liz Murphy Open Hand Pantry, 16 Ashland St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
