Enjoyed walks around Lake Quannapowitt

WAKEFIELD — Sze Kee Yee, 74, a resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 25, 2018.

Kee was born in Canton, China on December 9, 1943. Married to Li Fang Chen in 1973, Kee immigrated to the United States in 1979 to start a life for his family. He began working at his family’s restaurant in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he learned skills to become a cook. He continued his passion for cooking during his working life, and preparing weekly dinners for his wife and children.

After living in Brooklyn, Kee and his wife, Li, moved to Chelsea before settling in Wakefield. Kee who was raised on a farm in China, was accustomed to providing for his family through hard work. With a strong will and determined spirit, Kee was a man who always wanted to complete his mission whether at work or home. He loved being outside working on the house, growing tomatoes for his grandchildren, or taking his daily three hour-long walks around Lake Quannapowitt to the grocery store or Home Depot.

Kee always wanted to make people happy and did anything for his family. He loved to feed his family, did everything he could for his beloved wife and best friend, Li, and was a selfless and doting father to his three children and two grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed making personal connections in his neighborhood or at the store, and loved watching the Celtics.

Most of all, Kee was a dedicated, good hearted family man who always put others first. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Kee was the beloved husband of Li Fang Chen with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Devoted father of Ava Yee and her husband Jonathan of Reading, David Yee of Wakefield, and Donna Yee of Wakefield. Dear brother of Daniel Yee and his wife Elizabeth of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sze Cham Yee and his wife Sue of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kim Li and her husband Bo Wei of Ocala, Fla., and the late Sze Gim Yee. Loving grandfather of Ryan and Samantha. Also survived by several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor and remembrance of Kee’s life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose for his funeral service on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
