WAKEFIELD — Violet C. Ralston, 93, of Wakefield, and formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Wakefield Center on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

Violet was born on August 2, 1925 in Hyde Park, one of four children of the late Frederick and Violet (Grant) MacKay. She grew up in Hyde Park, and graduated from Hyde Park High School.

Violet spent most of her life as a proud homemaker. She dearly loved time spent with her family. One could find her happily cooking and baking for her children and their friends.

Among Violet’s other interests, she was passionate about art. She enjoyed sketching animals, people, and scenes of nature. If she wasn’t actively drawing, she would be at one of the art museums. Country Music, reading, and animals rounded out what made Violet happy.

Violet is the devoted mother of Janice D. Wells and her late husband John Jr. of Saugus. Dear sister of Joyce Shannon and her husband Robert of Hyde Park, Vt., and the late Frederick and Robert MacKay. Loving grandmother of John R. Wells of Saugus, and Monica Sullivan and her husband Paul of Newton. Proud great-grandmother of Jack T. and Patrick J. Sullivan. Also survived by her niece Andrea Shannon Dellers and her husband Alan of Hilton Head, S.C., and nephew Robert Shannon of Stowe, Vt.

Services are private.

Gifts in memory of Violet may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
