NORTH READING – The NRHS varsity football team recently announced the addition of Northeast Metro Tech to their regular season schedule. North Reading will host the Voke for their first game of the season on Friday, September 7 at 7 p.m.

The schedule will be challenging for the Hornets this season as they play five of their eight regular season games on the road. The Hornets have specifically difficult games on the road in their second game of the year against Hamilton-Wenham on Saturday, September 15 at 1 p.m., against Masco on Friday, October 12 at 7 p.m. and at Lynnfield on Thanksgiving.

During his first season as head coach, Ed Blum and the Hornets will need to be extra prepared for these games. Hamilton-Wenham (9-2) and Lynnfield (8-2) both tied for first in the CAL Baker Division. North Reading (6-3) beat Masco (7-3) at home last year which allowed the Hornets to go 4-0 in league play, topping Masco by one game for first in the CAL Kinney. The Hornets lost to Hamilton-Wenham at home last year 28-14 but beat Lynnfield on Thanksgiving 27-13.

North Reading’s first scrimmage will be on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Framingham High School.
