NORTH READING — Each year, North Reading Girls Softball is proud to offer scholarships to the graduating class. Next year, for 2018, the league will be offering $500 awards for up to three graduating high school seniors who have matured through their youth softball program.

To be eligible, the student must be a senior graduating in the spring of 2018 but it does not necessarily have to be a North Reading High School student. The applicant must have been registered in the North Reading Girls Softball program for at least four years. All submissions are reviewed and voted on by the NRGS Board of Directors.

To apply, the student should write an essay describing each of the following (in any order):

How you have given back to the youth league since you graduated from the program?

The positive influence that softball has had on your high school experience.

How softball has helped prepare and shape you for your future endeavors.

Submissions must be made to hornetssoftball@gmail.com by Tuesday, May 1 to be considered.

Last year’s recipient of the North Reading Girls Softball Scholarship was Julia Perrone, who is now playing at Stonehill College.
