NORTH READING — The fifth annual Hornet Hustle 5K and Kids’ Fun Run to benefit the Physical Education Departments of the North Reading Public Schools returns on Sunday, May 20.

Prizes will be awarded to the top female and male competitor in each age bracket as well as the first place overall female and male finishers.

The school with the highest percentage of registered participants will receive an additional $250 contribution plus their photo in the Transcript, and bragging rights for an entire year.

$12K donated to date

Since this fun community event was resurrected by Fit Revolution in 2013, the company has donated over $12,000 from funds generated by the race to the North Reading Public Schools’ Physical Education Departments.

PE instructors from the town’s three elementary schools, the middle school and the high school have used these funds to purchase new sports equipment such as: scooter hockey sets, climbing wall supplies, sports netting systems and more.

This year’s event will help the schools purchase new gym equipment to keep North Reading’s kids healthy and active throughout the school year and for years to come.
