NORTH READING — The Lady Hornets returned to the court for the first time in a week on Friday night and trampled the Triton Vikings 49-24 at NRHS.

Sophomore Julia Howse stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists, five steals and five blocks. Junior Lauren Sullivan was terrific as well with a game high 19 points and nine rebounds.

For the first 12 minutes of the game, North Reading throttled the Vikings. NRHS scored 23 points and held Triton to one made free throw for a 23-1 lead. But for the final four minutes of the second quarter, the Hornets lost a little focus and allowed the Vikings to cut the lead to 23-10 at the half.

NRHS maintained a big lead for the entire second half. They outscored Triton 26-14 and cruised to the 49-24 victory.

North Reading (5-2) beat Manchester-Essex 52-43 on Tuesday after press time. They travel to Lynnfield (3-4) on Friday night.
