NORTH READING — The 34th Annual Horseshoe Grille Golf Tournament is in the books for 2019. This year’s proceeds will be donated to the Jimmy Fund and Burbank YMCA. This year’s event raised over $30,000 for the two charities.

This marks the 64th year the Lee family and the Horseshoe will be donating to the Jimmy Fund. The fundraising efforts started with Pat and Veronica Lee in 1955. Softball games, road races and now golf tournaments have been the cornerstones of the fundraising efforts.

Through the years, the Horseshoe has donated almost $750,000 to the Jimmy Fund and other local projects such as KidSpot and Ipswich River Park. The key to such strong results year after year is the strong support and generosity of the tournament’s many sponsors. Local businesses and families have been supporting this event for over 30 years.

We would like to thank the Hillview Country Club for their assistance; the professional staff helped execute a successful day. The course was in wonderful shape and helped to add to the low scoring.

The sponsors of this tournament are listed in a separate article. Please support these local businesses, many of whom have been sponsoring this tournament for decades. The kind and generous donations we receive from these businesses and the citizens of North Reading help to make this grassroots event successful year after year.
