Including the $51,000 raised in 2017, the tournament has generated approximately $750,000 for the Jimmy Fund, according to Katie Moynihan of Moynihan Lumber, which has been running the tournament since 1999. She and her father, Michael, were recognized for the company’s long-time sponsorship at this year’s Jimmy Fund Golf Appreciation Night, which was held at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

The Meadow Brook Jimmy Fund Golf Classic was started in 1987 by two Meadow Brook members in memory of Harry Farry, a club president who had died of cancer. Several years later, a young golf professional at the club also succumbed to the disease. The tournament has also been dedicated to his memory since that time.

“It’s hard to imagine any family that has not been affected by cancer in some way,” Moynihan said. “We feel privileged to have the opportunity to support the Jimmy Fund through the golf tournament and other endeavors for all these years.”

In addition to the revenue generated by the tournament last year, Moynihan Lumber ran three drawings, giving away a Weber gas grill, Red Sox tickets, and Patriots tickets, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund.
