NORTH READING — The North Reading Northeast baseball team won the first two games of their 12-game season. North Reading beat Billerica 9-1 on Monday before defeating Lynnfield 5-3 on Tuesday during their home opener at North Reading High School’s Carey Park.

The Hornets will play seven more games at Carey Park:

Thursday, July 9, 6 p.m. vs. Tyngsborough.

Sunday, July 12, 9 a.m. vs. Dracut.

Sunday, July 19, 9 a.m. vs. Westford.

Tuesday, July 21, 6 p.m. vs. Dracut.

Thursday, July 23, 6 p.m. vs. Lowell.

Sunday, July 26, 9 a.m. vs. Newton.

Sunday, Aug. 2, 9 a.m. vs. Newton.

The Hornets are currently in first place in the South Division followed by Wilmington (1-0) and Lynnfield (0-1-1). Billerica (0-1) is the last team in the division. Westford (1-0) has the early lead in the North Division followed by Tyngsborough (0-0-1), Newton (0-0), Dracut (0-1) and Lowell (0-1).
