Enjoyed traveling and making her homemade raviolis

NORTH READING — Ann F. (Roderick) DiNitto, of North Reading, passed away on March 18, 2021 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of Raymond DiNitto and the dear mother of Ann Marie Wright and her husband Daniel of North Reading and Raymond DiNitto and his wife Paula of Somerville.
Born on November 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Irene Roderick, the sister of the late Tom and John Roderick, and Nana to Mary Wright of Somerville.
Ann’s specialty was her tortellini and sausage soup, which she loved to share in her magical red pot that never seemed to run dry. She was known for making homemade raviolis (whenever a hospital visit was imminent) so it was a special treat when she made them for no good reason.
She was married to her loving husband, mostly known as Digger, (or Sonny to his family) for a rich and adventurous 67 years. They could always be found playing Rummicube for countless hours and “who begged who” to play was always the great debate. To say they enjoyed traveling was an understatement. They went to Florida every winter for countless anniversary celebrations, visited England and Italy, charted three Caribbean cruises and made annual pilgrimages to Las Vegas a whopping 20 times – a fact she was very proud to share. When they were no longer able to make the trek to Vegas, Foxwoods was their runner up, where Ann loved her weekend getaways and favorite poker machines. She loved to play poker and adored Tom Jones as well as challenging her mind with Scrabble, crossword puzzles and beating the contestants to the answers on Jeopardy.
She enjoyed a nice martini or a glass of Chivas and nothing pleased her more than sipping her drink while watching a Sunday afternoon Patriots game or while lingering at the table with her family over a holiday meal.
Her granddaughter, Mary, was her pride and joy and the apple of her eye. In a scrapbook she gave her, she wrote these words: “Through you, I’ll see the future. Through me, you’ll know the past, and in the present, we’ll love one another as long as these moments last.” Ann made every moment of her life count and she loved her family more than anything else in this world.
We are so appreciative of everyone’s condolences, and support, and to say that Ann will be missed is an understatement of the highest degree. Living to the age of 90 was her goal and we were blessed to have her for as long as we did. The multitude of entertaining stories and loving memories we have to cherish will keep her living on, for us, for the rest of our lives.
