NORTH READING — Bruce F. Lowthers Sr., 82, of North Reading, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his home after a heroic battle with cancer.

Bruce served in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Police Officer. He graduated from Northeastern University and was a retired manager from Atlantic Food Mart. Bruce was involved over the years in North Reading Pop Warner Football, Little League, Knights of Columbus and North Reading Boosters.

He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Eleanor (Digby) Lowthers and the beloved father to Bruce Jr. and his wife Leslie Lowthers of Jacksonville, Florida; Kimberley Lowthers of Boston; and Todd and his wife Tracy Lowthers of Gloucester. He was the loving grandfather to Kelsey, Braeden, Abigail and William, and the loving brother to Brenda Lowthers Neary and Dennis Lowthers, and the late Charles Lowthers, Paul Lowthers, Walter Lowthers, Marjorie Lowthers Bailey and Joyce Lowthers Bergen. Bruce is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28), North Reading on Monday, July 30 and was followed by a funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. (Rte. 62), North Reading.
