U.S. Army veteran served in World War II

READING — Joseph M. Linnane, 98, of Reading, formerly of Medford and Charlestown, died Nov. 17, 2017. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Theresa (O’Hara) Linnane and the devoted father of Rev. Brian F. Linnane, S.J. of Loyola University Maryland, Michael J. Linnane (Julie Higgins) of North Reading, Maureen Branch (Gary) of Natick, and Denis P. Linnane (Stephanie Ranzo) of Medford. 

He was also the loving grandfather of Kathryn Barry (Sean) of Wakefield, Patrick Linnane of Medford, William and Matthew Branch. He also leaves his loving caregiver Mary Gilligan of Peabody.

Joseph was a veteran of World War II U.S. Army.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Raphael Church in Medford on Nov. 14. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Mary and Joseph Linnane Scholarship Fund, 4501 North Charles St., Loyola University, Baltimore MD 21210.
