PEABODY — Katherine E. “Kay” (Walsh) Mahoney, 78, of Peabody, formerly of North Reading, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Born on August 13, 1941, Katherine was the adored daughter of the late Albert Walsh and Pauline (Hale) Walsh.

She was the beloved wife of the late Redmond Mahoney and the loving mother of Brian Mahoney and his wife Theresa of East Kingston, N.H., Maureen Zdinak and her husband Peter of Tewksbury, Steven Mahoney and his wife Christine of Pelham, N.H., Sean Mahoney and his wife Stephanie of Windham N.H., Scott Mahoney and his wife Jennifer of North Reading, Susan Kenney and her husband Brian of Stoneham, and the late Karen Mahoney.

Katherine was the dear sister of Robert Walsh and his wife Nancy of Nashua, N.H. and William Walsh and his late wife Marie–Hèlèn of Belgium. She was also the cherished grandmother of nine, including the late Brendan Mahoney.

Katherine loved doing many things including traveling, reading, playing Keno, walking on the beach and being around family. She worked in the North Reading school system for many years as well as the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Katherine was loved by all her family and friends; she will be missed by all who knew her.

Her funeral will be held from the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading, on Tuesday, August 11 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter St. (Rte. 62), North Reading at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, August 10 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.
