Loved golf and Boston sports teams

NORTH READING — Richard A. Grasso, 84, a resident of Reading, North Reading, and Woburn, died on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Born in East Boston on March 12,1934, he was the son of Felix and Angelina (Gianino) Grasso. Richard was the husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Marciello-Grasso.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise and husband Bill Holtsberg, his grandchildren Billy and Erika of North Reading. Daughter, Cindy Barbaro of Tewksbury, grandson Jimmy Barbaro Jr., grandson Ricky Barbaro and wife Jessica, great-grandson Noah of New York/Boston, granddaughter Gina Checo and husband Nick of Tewksbury.  Daughter, Laura and husband Dennis Young of Butte, Montana, grandson Billy-Joe Norwood, great-grandchildren Lane and Livia Norwood, granddaughter Elizabeth Norwood-Theissen and husband Scott, great-grandchildren Gabriel and Kaleb Simms, granddaughter Rebecca and husband Sam Stoltz, great-grandchildren Bailey and Rylee Milasevich, granddaughter Emily and husband Chris Souza, great-grandchildren Jonah, Kolby, and Hannah.

Rich is survived by his loving companion of 17 years, Mary Sasso of Woburn. Mary’s daughter Laura Sasso, sons John and wife Helen Sasso and their daughter Emily. Paul and Cathy Sasso and their children Mathew and Nicole. He was predeceased by brothers Vincent, Salvator, Dominic and Carmen Grasso and sisters Ronnie Pierro, Connie Iapicca, and Mary Grasso.

He graduated from high school and became a cosmetologist. He owned and operated several businesses. Rich’s character was of loyalty and a loving heart. Rich loved to play and watch golf, he loved to watch the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. He enjoyed spending time with his family, coming over Saturday mornings with coffee, a box of donuts, and stories to share.
