Enjoyed reading, fishing and travels to Costa Rica

READING — William R. Winter, 62, of Reading, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

He was born in Weymouth on May 18, 1957. He was the son of the late Norman J. and Janet F. (Hall) Winter. Bill attended Reading public schools and was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1976. He also attended Middlesex Community College and was a graduate of Salem State College with a B.S. in Business.

He worked in the construction industry for many years and had been a resident of Reading for the past 56 years.

Bill had a big heart; he loved his family dearly and was always willing to lend a hand. He had a good sense of humor and was always joking around.

Bill loved to read, fish and travel. He has been to many countries and he especially loved Costa Rica.

Family members include his loving brothers, Norman J. Winter, Jr. and his wife Jan of California, the late Thomas F. Winter Sr., and Dennis J. Winter and his wife Karen of Reading; and his loving sister, Lisa M. (Winter) Richardson and her husband James of North Reading. Bill is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Saturday, January 11 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rte. 62), North Reading. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston MA 02284 or to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
