Spots limited for Thanksgiving Day race

NORTH READING — If you are reading this today, please know that today is the deadline for preregistration to the 9th Annual North Reading Turkey Trot 5k!

Director Joe Davis notes, “We have 1,206 participants signed up to tow the line on Thanksgiving. Will you be one of the last 294 to fill the field?”

In fact, based on registration trends, it appears that this race will represent a record advance sell-out. Don’t wait, sign up today.

Meandering the backroads of North Reading, this pleasant race course allows for a stress-free and fun 5K pre-feast workout. Upon finishing, you will be awarded with a custom designed finisher medal as well as given the opportunity for a post race photo shoot with our “new” photo backdrop, courtesy of New Balance.

This year’s shirts are performance fabric which allow for moisture to be wicked away from the body, keeping runners comfortable during both long and short runs all year long. North Reading High School 2016 graduate Johanna Walsh is this year’s graphic supporter as she designed the medals, the backdrop and the performance shirts.

“The event is held in rain or shine or snow,” Davis jokes. “We are prepared for anything and our volunteers are hearty! Don’t miss this community celebration of wellness.”

Members of the North Reading boys’ soccer team are integral event volunteers as they host pre-package pick-up and provide course directions on race day.

All funds benefit the North Reading Public Schools athletic programs in some way. A giant thank you is offered to our sponsors (thus far). Platinum sponsors include ERA Real Estate/Russell Realty Group, Leah McCann and Salon 77, Geri Farrelly and Farrelly Realty Group and New Balance. Additional sponsors include Aesthetic Dentistry, Keyes Law Offices, Horseshoe Grille, The Quinlan Realty Team/Classified Realty Group, cooKKielady and Marathon Sports.

We are still looking for businesses willing to donate items for the runner goody bag. Please reach out to Kathleen Walsh at walshkathleen19@yahoo.com if you have something exciting to add.
