NORTH READING — More than 100 girls and boys participated in the annual track and field camp last month.

This popular program is run through North Reading Parks and Recreation in conjunction with North Reading High School track coach Sotirios Pintzopoulos, assisted by his staff and high school track team members.

The goal of the program is to introduce youngsters to the fundamentals of the sport and its vast array of events involving sprinting, middle distance and long distance running as well as jumping and throwing events.

PROUDLY displaying their track camp medals as the champions in their respective age groups are, from left: M.J. Championship medals were awarded on the last night of camp to the top girl and boy in each age category as follows:

Girls: 7-year-olds – Paige Vant

Boys: 7-year-olds – Luke Fosco

Girls: 8-year-olds – Sydney Nussbum

Boys: 8-year-olds – Harry Agganis

Girls: 9-year-olds – Sophia Gallivan

Boys: 9-year-olds – Cooper Fagan

Girls: 10- to 11-year-olds – Hayden MacLellan

Boys: 10- to 11-year-olds – MJ Murphy

Girls: 12-plus – Alex Ivers.
