WAKEFIELD — Patricia Susan Wheeler, 63, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully and without pain at Tufts Medical Center in Boston in the early hours of Monday, June 17, 2019. She was surrounded by family and friends in the days and hours before her death and took her final breaths with her sister Judith and son Matthew by her side.

She was born on August 22, 1955, in Wakefield, the daughter of the late Richard and Pamela Wheeler. She attended Wakefield High School and received her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from North Shore Community College.

Patricia is remembered for sharing her caring spirit, sense of humor, and loving heart with her family and the communities she belonged to throughout her life— her recovery family in the Malden-Saugus-Everett area, AIM Services in upstate New York, the town of Bolton Landing in New York, the Wakefield Lincoln School, and, most recently, Wakefield Care and Rehab Center. She was an avid reader, card and word game player, and foodie, always on a quest to recreate her favorite dishes from her time as a waitress at the former Hazelwood Restaurant in Wakefield.

She was a devoted mother to her son, Matthew Wheeler, of Providence, R.I. until the end of her life. In addition, she is survived by her loving sisters: Susan Rivas and her husband Manuel of Hollywood, Fla.; Judith Greulich and her husband Peter of Wakefield; Christine Wheeler of Wakefield; and Ann Marie Mehta and her husband Kamlesh of Sunnyvale, Calif. She leaves behind many close friends and family members, including her nieces, nephews, and grand-nephew, all of whom brought her such joy. She was predeceased by her loving partner Stephen T. Roberts of Woburn and Bolton Landing, N.Y., and her sister Kathleen.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, June 25 from 4 – 7 p.m., followed by a short memorial service beginning at
7 p.m. which everyone is welcome to attend.
