WAKEFIELD — Patrick J. “Jake” Caven, 77, of Wakefield, died on Monday, July 29, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Somerville in 1942, he was the son of the late Patrick W. and Hannah (Daly) Caven.

Pat lived by one rule – family first. He lived his life in service to others and found no greater joy than being able to lend a helping hand to family and friends or to talk about his children and grandchildren. Mr. Caven proudly served four years in the United States Air Force and went on to have a successful career of many years as a salesman in the office product industry. His favorite hobby was karate which he studied for over 25 years, earning a second degree Black Belt. Pat and his wife loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful vacations.  

Mr. Caven is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Elizabeth A. (Latanzio) Caven, his two devoted children; Brian P. Caven and his wife Jean of Dover, N.H. and Lisa M. DiCorato and her husband Michael of Lynnfield, his two loving granddaughters Juliana and Adriana, his sister Mary Flood of Marion and his brother David Caven of Medford. He was predeceased by his brother John Caven.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
