READING — Robert L. Sciascia, 93, of Reading, formerly of Wakefield, died on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Daniel’s House in Reading.

Born in Winchester on October 17, 1924, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Marion (Bourinot) Sciascia.

Immediately after attending Winchester High School, Mr. Sciascia joined the U.S Army and served in WWII in Korea and Japan. He had been a Wakefield resident from 1963 to 1979 before moving to Reading. Mr. Sciascia had retired from Raytheon in Bedford as a Millwright Foreman. He was the founder of the Wakefield Church of Christ, as well as Minister and Counselor. Mr. Sciascia enjoyed golfing, painting, bowling, boating and fishing.

Mr. Sciascia is survived by his wife Marie (Hurlburt) Sciascia, his eight children; Robert Sciascia of Weymouth, Marion Sciascia of Peabody, Roger Sciascia of Reading, Elaine Sciascia of Wakefield, Marie Pisaturo of Gloucester, Gary Sciascia of Ariz., John Sciascia of Melrose and Mark Sciascia of Wakefield, his three brothers; Joseph Sciascia of Woburn, Daniel Sciascia of N.H., and Roger Sciascia of N.H.  Also survived by 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Sciascia was predeceased by his two brothers; William Sciascia and Peter Sciascia.

Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Sunday, January 7, from 1 – 4 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.

Celebration of Robert Sciascia’s life will be held at the Burlington Church of Christ, 344 Cambridge St. Burlington on January 20 at 1 p.m.
