MELROSE — On Saturday, November 28, the Melrose Chamber of Commerce wants to share Small Business Saturday® with you!
This national campaign, started by American Express®, happens the Saturday after Black Friday and reminds us all: Support our local small businesses. Think of a few stores, restaurants or businesses you would miss if they disappeared, and plan to spend money there this holiday season. It makes a big impact!
This year, Cambridge Savings Bank is the local Presenting Sponsor, and with their support there will have a DJ in downtown Melrose to help get everyone into the spending spirit.
“Small businesses like those in Melrose are the economic engine of our local communities and Cambridge Savings Bank is proud to be the local Presenting Sponsor of Small Business Saturday,” says Louie Soares, AVP and Melrose branch manager for Cambridge Savings Bank.
“We encourage residents to patronize their favorite businesses and visit those that are new to them throughout the year, but especially on Small Business Saturday,” says Lauren Grymek, executive director of the Melrose Chamber of Commerce. “Many businesses have reopened during the pandemic, after a very difficult period of being closed, and while the community has been incredibly generous in supporting our businesses during this time, with the cancellations of events, weddings and more, the local business community continues to need our support.”
The City of Melrose is also urging residents to come out to support small businesses on this day. “Everyone in Melrose has a story about how a local business went above and beyond helping find the perfect gift, or stayed open late to accommodate a customer, or contributed to a community activity or fundraiser,” Mayor Paul Brodeur said. “This vibrant community of merchants need our support more now than ever. Let’s show them how much they mean to us so we can make sure they are there on the other side of this pandemic with us.”
The list of participating businesses is subject to change. Small Business Saturday will take place during each business’ current Saturday hours.
