WAKEFIELD — The Town of Wakefield’s Tax Collector, Kathleen Kelly, says it’s that time of year when the tax due date is just around the corner. Because Feb. 1 falls on a Sunday, the real estate and personal property taxes are due the next business day, Monday, Feb. 2.

“While we welcome you at the counter, we encourage you to pay online. Visit the ‘online bill payment center’ at the Town of Wakefield’s website at www.wakefield.ma.us and follow the prompts. Should you not have your bill handy, not to worry. For easier bill payment, the online payment center now includes a ‘search’ feature (last name, street) for locating a real estate or personal property bill. Click on ‘Need help locating your bill,’ provide the requested information, click on ‘Find my bill,’ click on the correct property and the bill number/tax year fill in automatically and then click on ‘Submit,’” explained Kelly.

As always, should you not have access to a computer and have misplaced the bill and will pay in person, please call ahead and the bill will be waiting for you upon arrival. The payment may also be mailed to P.O. Box 269, Wakefield MA 01880 or placed in the “white” drop box at the rear of the town hall. With your cooperation, we will continue to make the bill paying experience a pleasant one.

Please remember the Tax Collector’s office will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
