LYNNFIELD — Vincent Leo Grifoni, 89, of Lynnfield, formerly of East Boston, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018.

Born in Framingham on September 17, 1928 he was the son of the late Joseph and Vincenzina (Cuoco) Grifoni.

Mr. Grifoni was a WWII Navy veteran, where he served aboard the USS
Missouri
and Aircraft Carrier USS
Tarawa
. He was the most caring grandfather and great grandfather, committed to investing all of his retirement days engaging his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband of the late Julia R. (Fucaloro) Grifoni, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Vincent J. Grifoni and his wife Carole of Peabody. He was the grandfather of Sheri Gentile and her husband Donald, Krista Normandin and her husband Steven, and Michelle Grifoni and her fiancé Ian Flanagan. He was proud of the great grandchildren: Jenna, Wesley, and Benjamin Gentile. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Grifoni of East Boston. He was predeceased by his nine siblings.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell Street, W. Peabody at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
