• Governor Baker extends the closure of schools until May 4, 2020.  Wakefield Public Schools will be closed until that date.

• MIAA updates the spring sports season start date to Monday, April 27, 2020.

First Parish Congregational Church discontinues Worship services through April 7. Building use has been suspended effective immediately through April 7 for both internal and external groups. This includes all church meetings and activities. One exception is the Red Cross Blood Drive scheduled for Friday, March 20. The blood drive will have less than 25 people at any given time and there is a critical need for blood supply.

• Unitarian Universalist Church of Wakefield has cancelled Sunday services for March 22 and March 29. In addition, all programs and events are cancelled or postponed. Live-streaming church services will be provided through Facebook starting on April 5.

• Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department will be closed to the public effective today, and will remain closed to the public until further notice. During this time, the office will be staffed using social-distancing best practice; electric and gas crews will be on-duty to handle emergency situations. • Town Hall will be closed to the public beginning tomorrow for an indefinite amount of time. Because town departments will continue operating, residents can conduct municipal business via phone, the internet or the drop box option.

• 2020 Sweetser Lecture Series canceled. The Sweetser Lecture Committee appreciates the support of Wakefield and the surrounding communities and will continue scheduling lectures in the future.

• Per order of Governor Baker, Wakefield Public Schools will remain closed until April 7.

• No gatherings of 25 or more; no in-house dining at restaurants, delivery and take-out only. All stores except grocery and pharmacy must close.

• Wakefield Public Schools will be closed until Monday, March 30.

Events taking place at Wakefield Public School buildings, including student and public concerts, outside lessons, and competitions, will be cancelled through April 5.

• The Wakefield Senior Center, located at 30 Converse Street, will be closed for public activities. Transportation will continue to be available for essential appointments. Staff can be contacted at 781-245-3312.

• The Americal Civic Center, located at 467 Main Street, will be closed for public activities. The Wakefield Food Pantry, located in the basement of the building, will remain open.

• The Beebe Library will be closed to the public. Patrons are encouraged to utilize their online collection at https://www.wakefieldlibrary.org/ecollection/.

• Organized public and private events in Town-owned buildings and on Town grounds, including the Common and sporting fields, will be cancelled. Permit holders of scheduled events will be contacted by the Town Administrator’s office for rescheduling options.

• The Community Meeting Room in the Public Safety Building, located at 1 Union Street, will be closed. The remainder of the building will remain open for Police and Fire Department business.

Town Hall and Wakefield’s business functions will remain in full operation at this time. Posted public meetings and hearings of the Town’s Boards, Committees, and Commissions will continue as scheduled. Social distancing, including allowing six feet of space between individuals and avoiding physical greetings, is encouraged at these meetings and with all public interactions townwide.

• Wakefield Co-operative Bank postpones its Local Professionals Appreciation & Networking event scheduled for March 26 that was being presented in partnership with Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce and Melrose Chamber of Commerce. A new date has not been determined.

• Community Sing-along in Wakefield, scheduled for Friday, March 20, has been cancelled.

• Troop 701 Pancake Breakfast has been cancelled.

• Ivy Chord Coffeehouse scheduled for Saturday, March 21 has been cancelled.

• MIAA suspends the start of spring sports season until Monday, March 30, 2020.

• Middlesex Concert Band has postponed this weekend’s “Sea to Shining Sea” concert.
A new time will be announced as soon as the situation is under control and things get back to normal.

• Reading NAMI Family Support Group has been suspended during the current public health emergency.
