WAKEFIELD — This Saturday, October 12, Wakefield will host a New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) competition at Landrigan Field. Twenty-one bands will compete in six different divisions starting at 3 p.m. In addition, the Boston University marching band will close the evening with what will surely be a crowd pleasing performance. Wakefield, the last high school band to perform, will take the field at approximately 8:05 p.m.

The Marching Band and Color Guard has had a busy season as this weekend will mark their third NESBA competition. They competed in Medford and North Andover in September earning scores of 81.9 and 85.7 respectively. At both competitions Wakefield also won high caption awards in all three categories: music, percussion and color guard.

NESBA is a family friendly event that not only includes a great evening of music and marching but also food and merchandise. Patrons can partake of a full concession stand including chili, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, mac and cheese, hot and cold beverages and the Wakefield Music Boosters’ famous hot apple crisp. There will also be a bake sale table which includes Candy Grams, a way to send a bag of treats with a personalized message to any performer. Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students.
