WAKEFIELD — Edward T. Burns, 71, of Wakefield died on Saturday, November 18, at his residence.

Born in Medford on April 6, 1946, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret M. (Walsh) Burns.

Mr. Burns was raised in Malden and had been a Wakefield residence since 1986.

He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Northeastern University and had earned his master’s degree in Business from Boston College.

Mr. Burns had retired in 2014 as director of Human Resources for Turner Construction Company in Boston.

He had served in the Army National Guard.

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife Veronica A. (Graham) Burns; his two sons, Edward J. Burns and his wife Melissa of New Jersey and Brian M. Burns and his husband Samuel Rodriguez of New York City; his three grandchildren:Daniel, Brady and Grace; and his two brothers, John Burns and Ronald Burns. He is also survived by his long dear friends: Robert and Mary Rose Muti, Robert and Candy Kelleher and George and Joan McMillan.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere St., in Boston on Saturday at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
